Blinkie Tutorial 2

In this tutorial you will be making this type of blinkie

finished blinkie

Let’s Begin!

First, create a new image 150×20 pixels with a transparent background and save it as blinkie1.psp

Now we need to create 3 more layers so we can add the different ‘parts’ of the blinkie. First, right-click on the first layer on your Layer Palette box and Rename it to ‘Background’

To create a new layer, either hold down ALT and press ‘L’ twice or click on Layers > New Raster Layer. Either way, you will be brought to this popup box:

layer properties

Give your new layer the name of ‘inner background’ as above then press OK.

Repeat the process twice more, naming the layers ‘frame1′ and ‘text’ (without the quotes)

Your Layers Palette should now look like the image below. If it doesn’t just drag the layers to the right position

Zoom into your image so you can get a better look at the details, then click on your Background Layer to select it.Select the Fill Tool (looks like a paint bucket) and choose a medium blue colour

colours

Click anywhere inside the image to fill it.

Now select the Inner Background Layer We’re going to make an inner box now.

We want to make a rectangle that is 4 pixels in on every side. One way to do it is to use the "paintbrush" to mark it on all sides and hold the "shift" key to draw a rectangle from point to point. Choose a lighter blue colour for the box and black to mark out the box.

add rectangle

Select your Magic Wand Tool and click inside the box. Now select your Flood Fill Tool and fill the box with the light blue colour

Now delete the black pixels so only your blue box is left
