In this tutorial, we are going to make the following blinkie:
You will need Paint Shop Pro (I use PSP7, but other versions should be similar) and Animation Shop 3.
Step 1
Create a new image, width 83 pixels x 9 pixels with a white background colour, as below, and press OK
Press Save As, name it whatever you want, and save it as a PSP Image (e.g. blinkie.psp)
Step 2
Set your Foreground colour to black, and your Background colour to whatever you want (I used #800080 for this)
Step 3
Select the Paintbrush tool, set the size to 1 and shape to squareZoom in by 5
Click on the left hand corner of the blinkie, hold down the Shift button, then click in the right hand corner of the blinkie. Hold down Shift again, and click on the bottom right corner. Continue this until you have a black outline around the blinkie as below
Step 4
Zoom in closer to the left corner. Count 4 pixels from the left and draw
a line down to the bottom. Count 3 pixels across after this and draw another
line. Repeat this until you have 4 lines
